Good Samaritan Health Center of Cobb provides medical, dental and pharmacy services to the underserved, and often uninsured and below the poverty line, populations of Cobb County and the Greater Atlanta Metropolitan area. Due to the fact that Medicaid did not expand coverage in Georgia, the majority of patients are left between the gap of Medicaid coverage and the Healthcare Exchange. Many patients utilize the ER for illnesses that could otherwise be controlled by a primary care provider such as diabetes, high cholesterol, the flu, etc. Most dental patients come to the clinic needing severe restorative dental work, some of whom have never before had a dental cleaning.  For those individuals, Good Sam Cobb has the privilege of being their place of healing and encouragement.

A loving ministry of caring people who offer help in a time of crisis, the Women’s Pregnancy Center is a ministry of Roswell Street Baptist Church committed to sharing the love and truth of Christ while assisting women during an unexpected pregnancy.  There are three basic responses a woman facing an unplanned pregnancy can make:  abortion, adoption or parenting. Through confidential conversation and education based on Biblical principles, we encourage women to consider alternatives to abortion while offering loving support and practical assistance.

School Mentorship

Noonday Baptist Association churches can be a catalyst for building a culture of mentoring. Here are three ways you and your church can be a part of the mentoring movement in your community’s schools.

One simple thing can make a big difference in the life of an at-risk child: One-on-one, positive attention from a responsible, caring adult. Kids Hope USA develops these one-on-one relationships through the creation of church-school partnerships that pair church members with at-risk kids in supportive, mentoring relationship. Kids Hope USA mentors spend just one hour per week reading, talking, playing and listening to a child at school. By helping the child feel loved and valued, they help that child to learn, grow and succeed.  For more information on Kids Hope USA click HERE.

The mission of the Cobb Mentoring Matters is to empower at-risk youth in our community to make positive life choices that enable them to maximize their personal potential. Mentors serve as a prevention and intervention strategy that will reduce the risk factors that can come between children and their ability to learn—both in the classroom and at home. Cobb Mentoring Matters envisions a community in which every youth experiences one-to-one relationships and community support, which in turn allows every youth to develop into their full potential, capable of making informed, responsible decisions as involved members of our community.  For more information, click HERE.

The Teach One to Lead One (T1L1) philosophy is used to develop character and leadership skills of young people in Cobb County. A significant group of the next generation is being led into a purposeless life. Of the 1.8 million young adults (ages 16-21) who have left high school without a diploma – 66 percent – are not working.  Teach One to Lead One is a community mentoring program that teaches universal principles to lead at-risk kids to a life of purpose and potential. By directly putting qualified mentors into classrooms, we offer a positive influence that many at-risk kids have never had. Our proven methods have brought us success since 1996. Click HERE to get more information on this T1L1 outreach.
